Step 1:  Against All Odds – Refugees

Issues such as depletion of resources, crowding, cultural warfare are often the consequences of overpopulation.  These problems can lead to people fleeing their native lands in search of freedom.  Complete the activity below to learn about and empathize with refugees.

(*You may want to “Yes! Register my game.” when asked if you are not quick at video games so you can complete it over two days*)

  • As you play the game stop after each section of 4 activities and record 5 sentences about what you have learned about refugees.  You may even want to stop after each mini game and add some notes which you can use to synthesize your learning.

Please write a short summary (1/2 pg double spaced if typed / 1pg double spaced  if hand written EACH)  of 2 examples of refugees you can find on the internet.  Your summaries must include

3.  What is a short description of their journey and/or arrival?

Today we had a Prezi on world conflict and cooperation from table 9 and then watched the Ted talks below discussing conflicts and signs of peace.

Today we began our country health project… Items needed by the end of tomorrow’s class:
Each group member must do one of the following:
1.Create a short bulleted paragraph of health issues and how they are being addressed (5Ws)
2.Draw visual of steps taken to address the health issues in your part of the world (Who is doing what for whom?)
3.Create a song and/or lyrics addressing what is happening in your country. (Message out)
4.Create a fake FB page complete with discussions, “likes”, friends, events, etc.
